Best time to visit Jeju

There is no single best month for everyone. Spring suits blossoms and coastal walks, summer is the swimming season, and autumn brings drier weather and easier hiking. Winter is cool, with less rain than summer.

Pick your main goal first, then check the weather numbers on the Jeju weather page. Day trips by guide run through the year, so Jeju day tours from Jeju City work as a fallback in any season. Dates below are the 2026 dates, and they shift from year to year.

Heat and rain

Highs reach 29.3 °C in July and 30.1 °C in August. August is also the wettest month at 272.3 mm. Typhoons are most likely from July to September, so keep your plans flexible.

Autumn and winter: hiking and cooler coasts

October to February.

Autumn hiking

October brings 95.1 mm of rain against 272.3 mm in August, with highs of 21.6 °C. The winter hiking rules start in October. Entry checkpoints close at 11:30 and the summit must be left by 13:30, against 14:30 from April to September. Plan for the 11:30 cut-off. Autumn is not a licence for a late start.

Reservation

The upper sections to Baengnokdam need a reservation. Since 1 December 2025, slots run 05:00–08:00 and 08:01–11:30, and bookings open on the first working day of the previous month at 09:00. A reservation does not guarantee the trail stays open.

Hallasan hike →

Winter

Highs of 8.6 to 11.0 °C and lows of 3.7 to 5.6 °C make the coast cool but workable. The beach season is over, and the season dates do not mean bathing is banned on every shore.
